One of the main advantages Nike hoped to gain from its single-instance ERP system was better communication and greater visibility across the company.

Having one integrated system would allow information to be shared more efficiently and help standardize operations throughout the supply chain.

What stood out to me most from this case was that companies do not always need to reinvent the wheel.

Nike’s experience showed that trying to customize too many systems and introduce too many changes at once can create unnecessary complexity and increase the risk of failure. Instead, organizations can benefit from adopting proven systems and adapting their processes to industry best practices. Sometimes, following a path that has already been proven successful is smarter than trying to create something entirely new. Proper testing, employee training, and clear communication are also essential to ensure that new systems are implemented successfully.
